Larochemillay is a nice village dominated by a large castle. The house has a view of the castle which adds to its charm! This old village which origins date back to the second century before Christ became a city in the 13th century and used to have impressive defensive walls. These walls have mostly disappeared and the village has become a heaven for artists with two restaurants, a wine shop, a post office and a small museum. There are several B&B's and holiday homes among which a gîte d'etappe for pilgrims en route for Santiago de Compostella. The village organizes several parties a year and a jazz festival.
Many walking tracks leave from the village into the national park the Morvan. There is interesting wildlife like hunting birds, the night swallow and many different owls, especially to be enjoyed at night!
